  • A Bigger Small Helicopter

OK, let's get all the rude jokes out of the way..............A bigger Chopper, My Chopper is bigger than yours, My Chopper is greater than 12"......etc, etc.

t's out of way, what are we actually looking at? Well if you are into gadgets, or remote controlled toys, the chances are that you've seen or even got one of popular miniature vehicles. There's been cars, bikes, & tanks to name a few, and of course Helicopters. Looking through the latest brochure from FireBox, which sells all those mini vehicles, I spied this new helicopter, the Bladez 3D Outdoor Helicopter. The mini remote helicopter has grown up, it's now just over 12" long, but importantly it has gained another channel on the remote for even greater control.

Although it is labelled as an outdoor model, this doesn't exclude those indoor flights, as it is electrically driven unlike its smelly petrol driven cousins. Be careful though as the powerful motor and blades could do some serious damage indoors.

If you've not flown a remote controlled helicopter before, I'd recommend you start with one of the smaller models to build up you skills. Even if you have flown before you don't need fear the new model, as it is as robust as its smaller cousins. Just in case of an accident, two spares packs are available for purchase which include the parts you are most likely to damage in a big crash.

If you fancy something even bigger, then you can book yourself a flight in the real thing here the countryside landing in the grounds of a hotel.

  • Tee Time for Vampires

While browsing through Spreadshirt's extensive range of designs for t-shirts and sweatshirts (they do a range of other products as well), I came across this excellent skull design. "Oh no, not another Emo skull!" I can hear you crying, but wait, this one is a bit different. This time it is the skull of a vampire, with those all important neck puncturing teeth. The design has been simply done, using a single colour, but that makes it stand out more from the shirt. Thanks to Spreadshirt's online designer you can chose the type (tee or sweatshirt) & colour of your shirt, and the colour of the actual design. So let your artistic side run wild and create a shirt just for your taste, even if you have a taste for blood!

Skull Shirt - White Skull Shirt - Yellow

Spreadshirt offer two excellent vector printing methods. The first is called "flex" and is like a very fine/thin nylon material. The second is called "flock" and is very thin felt like material. Both of these are bonded to the shirt of your choice once you place your order. You can also add the text of your choice if required.

Obviously Spreadshirt have a wide range of other designs, many submitted by enthusiastic individuals. With so many contributors the quality & type of the designs vary, so make good use of the search facility within the shirt designer to explore those that are available. You can also browse the Marketplace where all the designs are displayed, but this can be a it time consuming & laborious.

  • Exterminate! the Teletubbies

    HAPPY CHRISTMAS!

Well I had to try and get in first.   It may only be the end of August, but the chips are already down for what will be THE toy of Christmas 2008. As for the last few years the consoles will be slugging in out between the Nintendo Wii and the Sony Playstation 3. But while those two continue the console war the current betting says that there will be a fierce fight between merchandise from two BBC programmes.

In the red corner we have the Teletubbies, and in the blue corner Dr. Who. Personally I think the Teletubbies have been and gone several years ago, so let's look at Dr. Who. The BBC have done an excellent job giving this long lived series a new lease of life, and they haven't missed out on the merchandise either. Over at Character-Online they have a wide range of goodies from Series 1, 2, 3 & 4. What particularly caught my eye are the voice changing heads, as one of the guys in the office had a Cyberman one which he'd bought for his kids. Kids be blowed, I think he'd bought it for himself! As well as the Cyberman head, there is also a traditional Dalek head, and a Dalek Sec head. These will undoubtedly be a terrifc hit this Christmas.............so don't forget to stock up batteries.

  • The VCR Is Dead, Long Live The VCR

It had to happen. At some point that old video cassette recorder (VCR) that clunks away under your 50 inch plasma screen, makes a never before made sound, and dies. "Oh well", you sigh, and then you start to remember all those tapes of wet holidays in Wales, the kids growing up, Aunty Flo making a fool of herself at some relation's wedding, and you start to panic. What are you going to do? You'd always said that you would get round to copying the tapes to DVD, but..............well you never did. Trying to find a new VCR these days is like trying to find a Polar Bear at the South Pole.

    USB VCR

Salvation is at your door in the form of this crafty VCR from FireBox which comes with a USB connection, and some software for your PC. Install the software, plug the USB lead into your PC, insert the tape, then play and record to your PC's hard drive. The software has options to create files for all manner of devices from mobile phones to ipods and mp4 players to DVDs.

Not only can this VCR save you from wrath of you wife/husband/partner, it can also function as a normal VCR. Just make sure you don't forget to use its killer USB feature, by waiting another 10 years before thinking about saving those irreplacable videos.

Interested in the product? Then it is available here.
